The Story Behind the Soul
Hi, I'm Cheryl
I’m Cheryl—a mam, music lover, content creator, cosplayer and the woman behind Nova Rising Soul.
I love music from across the decades, woodland imagery, celestial skies, cosy evenings and finding little ways to make everyday life feel a little more magical. If you have explored Nova for even a few minutes, you have probably noticed a certain fox appearing throughout the website—but we will come to her shortly.
TikTok and cosplay have also played an important part in my journey. Dressing as different characters, creating videos and finding the confidence to step in front of the camera helped me rediscover parts of myself that had quietly become lost over the years.
Cosplay gave me permission to be bold, playful and expressive again. Somewhere between becoming all of those different characters, I slowly began finding Cheryl again too.
I’m warm, honest, sometimes spiritual, frequently silly and still very much a work in progress. I do not have every answer, and I am not here to pretend that I do. I am simply someone who has lived through difficult chapters, started finding her way back to herself and decided to create the kind of space she once needed.
My journey back to myself
My own healing has never followed a straight line.
There have been brave days, exhausted days, breakthroughs, setbacks and moments when simply getting through the day felt like enough.
Little by little, I began building gentle practices that helped me reconnect with myself.

Playlists that could meet me exactly where I was emotionally, without asking me to feel differently before I was ready.

A safe place for thoughts that felt too tangled, heavy or vulnerable to carry silently.
✧ Yoga & gentle movement
Learning to reconnect with my body through patience and kindness rather than pressure or criticism.
✧ Creativity
Art, photography, cosplay, writing and creating beautiful things simply because they reminded me that I was still allowed to experience joy.
✧ Spiritual Reflection
Quiet moments that helped me rediscover meaning, trust, hope and a deeper connection with myself.
✧ Healthy boundaries
Learning that kindness and boundaries can exist together, and that protecting your peace does not make you unkind.
None of these things magically erased the difficult chapters.
They gave me ways to move through them without abandoning myself.
That is the heart of Nova: not perfection, but connection. Not pressure, but progress. Not having every answer, but being willing to take the next gentle step.

Nova Rising Soul was not created because I had everything figured out.
It was created while I was still healing, still rebuilding and still discovering who I was becoming..
I wanted to create somewhere gentle and honest—a place where growth did not have to be polished and nobody had to pretend that they were okay.
Healing is not about becoming somebody completely different. It is about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that became quiet while you were simply trying to survive.
That is the heart of Nova Rising Soul.

Why Nova Rising Soul?

A nova is a star that suddenly shines more brightly.
To me, it represents the light that can return after a difficult chapter—not because everything that happened disappears, but because we discover that it did not extinguish us.

Rising does not mean never struggling again.
It means choosing, over and over, to meet yourself with kindness. It means protecting your peace, trying again after setbacks and recognising how far you have already come.
✧ Soul
Soul is the truest part of you beneath the expectations, labels and noise.
It is the quiet part that still knows who you are, even when you have temporarily lost sight of her.
Nova Rising Soul is about reconnecting with that inner light and allowing it to be seen again.
Why the Fox?
The fox has become the heart of Nova Rising Soul.
She represents intuition, adaptability and quiet strength.
A fox knows when to move, when to wait, when to observe and when to protect herself. She can travel through darkness without losing her way.
For me, she is a reminder to trust my instincts, honour my own pace and remember that softness and strength are not opposites.
Throughout Nova, you will find her quietly accompanying the journey—a gentle reminder that even when the path ahead is not completely clear, we can still listen to ourselves and take the next step.
