25 August 2026I Bought Moldavite… So Apparently I’ve Chosen Chaos
If you’ve spent any amount of time in spiritual spaces online, you’ve probably heard of Moldavite. And if you’ve heard of Moldavite, you’ve probably also heard the stories. People get a piece and suddenly relationships end, jobs change, friendships disappear, they move house, their entire life gets turned upside down and somehow they’re standing there six months later saying it was the best thing that ever happened to them.
Naturally, I heard all of this and thought… yeah, I’ll have some of that. 😂
Because apparently after everything the last couple of years have thrown at me, my response to a crystal with a reputation for completely shaking things up was not to run in the opposite direction. It was basically, fuck it, let’s see what happens.
But actually, there was a little more thought behind it than that.
Moldavite is traditionally associated with transformation, change and spiritual growth. It’s a type of tektite believed to have formed around 15 million years ago when a meteorite impact occurred in what is now southern Germany, with Moldavite being found mainly in the Czech Republic. That alone fascinates me. I’m literally wearing something around my neck that exists because a bloody meteorite smashed into Earth millions of years ago. If that doesn’t scream transformation, I don’t know what does.
Of course, crystals don’t have scientifically proven powers to rearrange your life, and I’m never going to tell anybody that buying a particular stone will magically fix everything. For me, spirituality has always been much more personal than that. It’s about intention, symbolism, connection and what something represents to you.
And that’s what drew me to Moldavite.
I’ve spent a huge amount of my life trying to hold everything together. Trying to keep people happy. Trying to fix things. Trying to predict what was coming next so I could prepare myself for it. When you’ve spent a long time living in survival mode, control can start to feel a lot like safety.
But I don’t want to live like that anymore.
I don’t want to cling to people, situations, habits or versions of myself simply because they’re familiar. I don’t want fear of losing something to be the reason I keep it. And I definitely don’t want to make myself smaller just to keep everything around me comfortable and unchanged.
So when I got my Moldavite, my intention wasn’t “destroy my life and remove everybody who annoys me.” 😂 It was much simpler than that.
If something genuinely isn’t right for me anymore, I want to have the courage to let it go. If something is right for me, I want to give it room to grow and change with me. And if there are parts of myself that I’ve outgrown, I want to be brave enough to leave those behind too.
I’ve also been wearing it alongside clear quartz. Clear quartz is traditionally associated with clarity and amplification, so symbolically the combination felt perfect to me. Transformation, but with intention. Change, but with clarity. Not “burn my entire life to the ground and see what survives.” Although, knowing me, I appreciate that may have been the more entertaining option. 😂
The important thing for me is that I’m not handing responsibility for my life over to a green stone.
Moldavite doesn’t get to decide who belongs in my life. It doesn’t decide which direction I take, what relationships I keep, what boundaries I set or what choices I make. I do.
But every time I put it on, it reminds me of the intention I made when I chose it: I am willing to change.
And that sentence would have terrified an earlier version of me.
There was a time when I desperately needed to know what was happening next. I needed plans, reassurance and certainty. Change meant something was going wrong. Losing something meant I’d failed. An ending meant I needed to fight harder to prevent it.
I’m beginning to see things differently now.
Sometimes something ending isn’t punishment. Sometimes something changing doesn’t mean it’s being taken away from you. Sometimes the thing you’re desperately trying to preserve belonged to a version of you that doesn’t exist anymore.
And sometimes things don’t need to disappear at all. They simply need to evolve with you.
That’s probably the biggest thing I’m taking from this little piece of Moldavite hanging around my neck. I’m not asking the universe to choose my life for me. I’m choosing to stop gripping it quite so tightly.
Whatever happens next, I want to meet it as the person I’m becoming rather than constantly reacting as the person who once had to survive.
Because maybe transformation isn’t really about becoming somebody completely new.
Maybe it’s about finally feeling safe enough to stop being who you had to become to survive.
And if my little green meteorite rock wants to come along for the ride?
Well… fuck it. Let’s see where we end up. 💚✨
