Gentle breathing, grounding practices and quiet moments to reconnect with yourself.

Sometimes life becomes loud.

Your thoughts race, your chest feels tight, and it can seem impossible to switch your mind off.

If that's how you're feeling today, you're exactly where you need to be.

You don't have to fix everything right now.

Just stay here for a little while.

Together, we'll slow things down, one gentle breath at a time.

Box breathing is a simple breathing practice that can help you slow things down, steady your breathing and bring your attention back to the present moment. It gets its name from its four equal stages — imagine tracing the four sides of a square as you breathe.

You don’t need to force a particularly deep breath. Keep everything slow, gentle and comfortable. You can practise sitting, lying down, or anywhere you feel settled.

✧ How to practise

1. Breathe in — 4 counts
Slowly breathe in through your nose as you count:
1… 2… 3… 4

2. Hold — 4 counts
Gently pause, without straining:
1… 2… 3… 4

3. Breathe out — 4 counts
Slowly release your breath:
1… 2… 3… 4

4. Hold — 4 counts
Rest at the bottom of the breath:
1… 2… 3… 4

Then begin again.

In for 4 → Hold for 4 → Out for 4 → Hold for 4

Repeat for 3–5 rounds, or for as long as it feels comfortable.

While you breathe

Try imagining a square in your mind. Travel up one side as you breathe in, across as you hold, down as you breathe out, and back across during the final pause.

There is nothing you need to achieve here. If four counts feels uncomfortable, shorten the count or return to your normal breathing. The practice should feel gentle rather than something you have to push through.

✧ A little reminder

Your breath is something you can return to wherever you are. You don’t need a perfect setting, a quiet mind or lots of time.

Sometimes, four small sides of a square are enough to give yourself a moment to pause, breathe and come back to yourself.

✧ Ground Yourself

Three simple grounding techniques.

5•4•3•2•1

Notice:

5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste

Feel Your Feet

Take off your shoes if you can.

Notice:

the floor beneath you
the temperature
your weight
your breathing

Sometimes the quickest way to calm the mind is to reconnect with the body.

✧ A Few Gentle Words

Talk to yourself as you would a friend in need.

You are safe.

You are not behind.

Rest is productive.

Healing begins the moment you stop fighting yourself.
