Put Your Energy Where Your Future Lives

You Don’t Always Have to Be the One Pouring
25 September 2026Rest Is Part of the Rhythm
We’re very good at celebrating the doing. The productive days, the big ideas, the ticking-things-off-the-list days where we feel like we’ve absolutely smashed life before lunchtime.
But we’re not quite as good at celebrating the days where our body and energy say, “Actually, can we just not?”
We seem to have convinced ourselves that slowing down means we’re falling behind. That if we’re not creating, achieving, fixing, planning or moving onto the next thing, we’re somehow wasting time.
But look at nature. Nothing blooms constantly. Trees lose their leaves. The sun disappears earlier. The seasons change, the earth becomes quieter, and none of us stand outside shouting at a tree because it hasn’t been productive enough today.
Rest isn’t separate from growth. It’s part of it.
Sometimes rest is a whole day under a blanket doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes it’s ten quiet minutes with a cuppa. Sometimes it’s saying, “That can wait until tomorrow,” instead of squeezing one more thing out of yourself because you feel like you should.
And sometimes, apparently, it’s accepting that darker mornings have arrived and your body has taken this as official permission to become a hibernating woodland creature.
There will be days for movement. Days for creating. Days where your energy is huge and you want to do everything at once.
And there will be quieter days too.
You don’t have to earn those days.
You don’t have to justify them.
Because rest is part of the rhythm.
