I’m Not Behind, I’m Just Unfolding in My Own Time

You Don’t Have to Fix Someone to Support Them
3 September 2026I think sometimes we get so caught up in trying to heal, grow and become better versions of ourselves that we forget something really important.
We’re allowed to just live.
There’s so much talk about healing now, and obviously I’m a massive believer in working on ourselves. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing with Nova if I wasn’t. I think understanding ourselves, recognising our patterns and taking care of our wellbeing can completely change our lives.
But I also think there’s a point where healing can accidentally become another thing we put pressure on ourselves to be good at.
We start analysing everything.
Why am I feeling like this? What triggered me? What do I need to release? Is there a lesson here? Am I out of alignment? What is the universe trying to tell me?
And sometimes the answer might simply be… nothing.
Maybe you’re tired because you didn’t sleep very well. Maybe you’re quieter than usual because you fancy being quiet. Maybe you’re irritated because someone got on your nerves. Maybe you’re having a weird day because human beings occasionally have weird days.
Not everything needs a deeper meaning.
You don’t have to turn every difficult emotion into a breakthrough. You don’t have to wake up every morning determined to become a shinier, wiser, more healed version of yourself.
Some days you might meditate, journal, do yoga, spend time in nature and feel completely connected to yourself.
Other days you might sit in your pyjamas, drink coffee, watch something ridiculous and achieve absolutely bugger all.
Both days count.
I actually think there’s something quite freeing about asking yourself, “What if nothing needs fixing today?”
Not because we should ignore the things that genuinely need our attention, but because there’s a difference between caring for yourself and constantly searching yourself for faults.
You are not a never-ending renovation project.
Healing should eventually create more room for living. More laughter. More curiosity. More ordinary little moments where you’re not thinking about who you were, who you’re becoming or what you still need to work through.
You’re just there.
Living your life.
So maybe today, instead of asking yourself what you need to fix, ask yourself what you actually need.
And if the answer is rest, fun, company, solitude, fresh air, a cup of tea or absolutely nothing at all, that’s okay too.
You’re allowed to simply be.
